PrizmViewer is an application developed to help you preview and manage high-resolution images, such as CAD files for instance, in your web browser.
It is necessary to mention that the app does not include a standalone UI, but rather it takes the looks and feels of Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. Once you activate the extension, you can start viewing images within the browser.
In addition to previewing, the utility enables some basic photo manipulation. To be more precise, you can create, reload, delete, view and modify annotations. Moreover, the extension allows you to save, print or email the images you are working on with just a few clicks.
In spite of the fact that it transforms your browser into a photo-viewing tool, you should know that the extension allows you to customize the toolbar according to your needs and preferences. Therefore, you can select to show or hide the options for Image, Paging, Mouse, Annotation and Docking Windows.
Alternatively, you can create a custom toolbar that comprises of the quick buttons that you commonly use when viewing and manipulating images. At the same time, you can use the separator function to set a fixed position of each toolbar and lock its position.
The app enables you to select the types of files that you prefer viewing in your default browser. You can just select the + plus sign next to the file type to make sure that next time you open a PNG, GIF, TIFF, BMP or AutoCAD file, it opens directly in your browser.
On a side note, while you can change the file associations anytime in Internet Explorer, the same does not apply for Firefox. In the latter case, you need to re-install the app to reset and select the desired file associations.
If you work with numerous image file formats and want to be sure you can access them anytime without having to install addition third-party programs, then PrizmViewer might be worth a try.
