NoteLens is a straightforward application designed to offer an easy and fast way to create simple notes, sort them into specific groups, and store them locally for quick access.
The setup doesn't take too much time to finish, while the provided layout is plain and accessible. It's divided into three separate sections, the note tree, all the contained files in a group, and the complete view of the currently selected record.
Even though the tree comes with default groups, such as favorites, notes, files, contacts, email, and trash, you can add as many categories as you want within the "Categories" node. Sadly, none of the elements mentioned above doesn't come with dedicated fields, like other similar tools. For example, the contacts could've come with details such as full name, phone numbers, address, city or profile picture.
Plus, there is no editor integrated into the app to fully customize the notes with fonts types, colors, styles, as well as insert images from the computer, tables or bullet lists, suitable for shopping lists. Marking multiple files sends them to the favorite node. From the Preferences menu, you can disable the tab characters from note boxes, send to systray, change the notation font, and set the maximum amount of displayed memos.
It would have been a great feature if an encryption or protection system was included into the utility to secure the items from being accessed and modified by unwanted people. Plus, an export function would've been useful to save the entire database to CSV, XLS, DOC or TXT file formats.
In conclusion, NoteLens is a practical and intuitive program that comes in handy for those who don't need complicated note managers to easily create and store their notations, contacts, and emails. During our testing, we encountered minor issues when a large amount of files were imported.
