The monitor system enables you to keep a watch on your servers and be alerted if a problem arises. You can define calendars, set alert thresholds and define email templates all within the montor system. Monitor consists of a Windows NT Client and Server a
The Monitor Client runs on Windows NT. Here is where you define all the monitoring parameters including email templates, calendars, server names and addresses, file system and process alerts. Server agents currently exist for Windows NT (either command line or installed as a service), Linux, Solaris, DEC, HP-UX, Unisys NX and IBM UNIX. Other agents are currently being developed.
You can define alerts for filesystems (alert when they reach a certain capacity) or on the number or composition of the process mix. For example, alert if there are less than 6 processes with the name "tte1.exe" currently active in the server. The automated ping allows you to ping any TCP/IP capable server on a schedule and raise alerts when they fail.
When the Monitor Client detects an alert condition, it will send you an email (which you have defined) together with specific details of the alert condition. Comprehensive logs are kept of all the monitoring activities A number of SAP alertable conditions have been included in this release together with the ability to imbed an alert agent in a UNIX or NT script so that you can generate alerts on virtually any system event.
Requirements:
■ Client: Windows NT, 2000, XP professional
■ Server: Linux, NT/2000/XP, UNISYS, AIX, SUN, DEC, HP
